NATO Warns Of 100% Tariff On India Over Trade With Russia

NATO Gives Trade Warning to India, China, and Brazil

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization  has threatened to impose a 100% tariff on nations that insist on trading with Russia. The threat is part of the United States and its allies' efforts to economically pressure Russia and put an end to the war in Ukraine.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in a categorical statement after a meeting with U.S. senators, declared that if India, China, and Brazil keep purchasing oil and gas from Russia, NATO would take drastic measures. Rutte asserted that these nations need to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin for peace negotiations. If not, NATO measures will deeply impact these countries, he warned.

US Increases Support for Ukraine

Former United States President Donald Trump has said that America will continue to provide missiles and air defense systems to Ukraine. He made the declaration in conjunction with American lawmakers.

Republican Senator Thom Tillis called for caution on the 50-day window that Russia may employ to advance further in Ukraine. He cautioned that Putin may launch an escalation of the war within the time frame and negotiate at a position of power afterwards.

Russia Rejects Tariff Threats

Russia has replied to these threats by dismissing them. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Russia is ready to deal with any new tariffs or sanctions. He reaffirmed the fact that Moscow will not be swayed by international pressure and is strong in its position.
