Rare Dinosaur Fossil Sold at Record Price
A rare dinosaur fossil was recently auctioned at a price of $30.5 million, which is around ₹263 crores. Sotheby's conducted the auction in New York. Buyers are usually interested in rare historical pieces, and this fossil attracted fierce interest.
One of the Most Costly Dinosaur Skeletons
Sotheby's has confirmed that this is the third most expensive dinosaur skeleton sold. Another fossil named Apex was sold in July last year for $44.6 million, which is approximately ₹380 crores. Due to safety concerns, the buyer was not revealed. Experts say that the fossil is about 150 million years old.
Mars Rock Also Featured in Auction
Also sold at the same event was a rock from Mars. It garnered several bids. The Mars rock was sold for a final sale price of $5.3 million, which is approximately ₹45 crores.
