Connection Cap and Speed Limit
Union Minister Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said Starlink, under Elon Musk, is capable of handling up to 2 million connections in India.
He further said that the top speed available would be 200 Mbps.
Minimum Disruption to Current Telecom Operators
The minister explained that Starlink's influence on BSNL and other telecom operators would be negligible.
He said that the cost of Starlink's service would be high in the beginning, with the monthly fee being around Rs. 3,000.
Target Regions and BSNL's Position
Starlink would likely target rural and far-off areas, regions where BSNL is already operating.
As per the minister, the installation of BSNL's 4G services has been finalized.
He also assured that there are no plans now to raise tariffs.
