India's First Hydrogen-Oxygen Engine Test Completed
Stardoor, a Hyderabad-based space technology firm, has successfully tested a hydrogen-oxygen propulsion engine. This is the first such test in India. The test was conducted at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore.
Test Results Could Aid Future Rocket Design
Stardoor Director Rama Rao stated that this successful experiment can contribute to the development of more efficient and stable propulsion systems. Such systems could be employed for future rocket missions.
Hydrogen-Oxygen System Could Enable Reusable Rockets
IISc Professor Pratikash Panda explained that it is a good method for creating reusable rockets. These systems can reduce space missions' cost and enhance rocket reliability.
Stardoor Also Working on Lucas Rocket
Stardoor is also developing a new rocket named Lucas, an Orbital Transfer Vehicle (OTV). It is for missions to low-Earth orbit and geostationary orbit. It aims to launch the rocket by the end of 2027.
