APSRTC Free Bus Travel For Women From August 15: AP Minister Ramprasad Reddy

Free Bus Travel Scheme Announced

Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy announced that free bus travel for women across the state will start on August 15. This initiative, called ‘Sri Shakti’, will be officially launched by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

Buses Included in the Scheme

Women in Andhra Pradesh will be able to travel free in the following APSRTC bus categories:

  • Palle Velugu
  • Ultra Palle Velugu
  • Metro Express
  • City Ordinary
  • Express Buses

They can go anywhere within the state through these services.

Travel Documents Needed

To avail of the free travel facility, women must produce any one of the following documents:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Voter ID
  • Ration Card

Number of Buses and Expenditure

The scheme will benefit about 6,700 buses in total. The estimated cost of the program every year is ₹1,950 crore.

Electric Bus Plans

The Chief Minister also signed off on buying 3,000 electric buses. Of these, 1,400 electric buses will be introduced within two years, says Minister Ramprasad Reddy.
