Overview of the Safety Overview Feature
WhatsApp has released a new security feature named Safety Overview. It informs users about group information when added by strangers. It indicates vital group information and provides tips to prevent scams.
Information Users Can View
When you are added to a group against your will, this feature gets activated. You are able to see:
- Who added you to a group
- Who initiated the group
- All group participants
- The creation date of the group
According to this information, you can either stay or exit the group.
Access to Chat History Before Joining
With this new update, you can view the old chat history prior to joining the group. Previously, WhatsApp did not provide a feature for viewing old messages prior to joining. In case you want to leave, you can leave the group without opening the messages. If you want to remain, you just have to check a box. Until you make up your mind, group message notifications are muted.
