Trump's Tariffs on Indian Products

The United States, led by President Donald Trump, has levied hefty tariffs on Indian imports. The tariffs have already been raised to 50 percent. Trump further threatened that tariffs will increase higher if India continues to import oil from Russia.

Netanyahu's Comment on the Matter

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also spoke in reference to this issue. According to him, he wants to offer some personal tips to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on dealing with Trump.

"Modi and Trump are both my close friends," Netanyahu said. "I will share my advice with Modi, but only in private," he added. He made these comments in a conversation with Indian journalists. Netanyahu also spoke of his desire to visit India soon.

India-US Relations and Tariff Concerns

Netanyahu termed the relationship between the United States and India extremely strong. He exhorted both countries to resolve the tariff problem. He maintained that both countries should go according to their own interest.

Since the two countries are allies, he thinks that solving the problem would also be good for Israel. Netanyahu explained that Israel will persist with the cooperation with India, particularly in the field of counter-terrorism. He assured that the two nations will exchange intelligence details.

Meeting With Indian Ambassador

On Thursday, Netanyahu had a meeting with JP Singh, Indian Ambassador to Israel. In the meeting, the two shared the status of bilateral relations.
