
India and Russia Hold Talks on Trade, Investment, and Peace
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday. Both the leaders talked about what can be done to enhance trade, investment, and economic ties. Delhi and Moscow both released statements confirming their common intention to deepen the "special and strategic partnership."
In the course of the talks, President Putin briefed Prime Minister Modi on the current situation in the conflict in Ukraine. Modi reaffirmed his position that conflicts are to be settled through peaceful discussions. He called the discussion a "fruitful conversation" on social site X and appreciated the briefing.
Preparations for Putin's Visit to India
The two leaders discussed the bilateral relationship's progress. Modi expressed that he is keen to host Putin in India this year. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who is in Moscow on an official visit, said that the Russian president is finalizing the dates for his visit.
Putin Talks with Xi Jinping Before Meeting the US
Before upcoming discussions with US President Donald Trump on Ukraine, Putin also spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Putin shared details of the Ukraine situation and recent consultations with the US. He will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in China later this month.
