
US Places Higher Tariffs on India
US President Donald Trump has increased tariffs on India to 50 percent for purchasing oil from Russia. This decision follows earlier tariffs of 25 percent, which are already in effect. The remaining 25 percent will take effect on the 27th of this month.
Modi’s Planned US Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon visit the United States. Sources indicate that he will be attending the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) sessions in New York in September. On this visit, Modi will probably meet President Trump to talk about the trade between the two nations.
Bilateral Meetings with World Leaders
Besides Trump, Modi will meet a number of foreign leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The two recently had a telephone conversation. The meetings are meant to discuss global and bilateral issues.
