Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki has become the Prime Minister of Nepal’s interim government. She took charge following recent violent unrest in the country.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Karki in a post on X. He stated that India is dedicated to the peace and development of Nepal and wished her all the best.

Karki on India Relations

Karki, who is an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University in Uttar Pradesh, expressed her perspective regarding India during a recent interview. She stated:

  • She would greet Modi initially if she met him.
  • She has a good impression about him.
  • India-Nepal relations are long and amicable.

Natural Differences

Karki stated that governmental differences are natural. She likened it to the noise one gets when dishes are in a kitchen. She further said that even with such differences, citizens of both nations enjoy close and affectionate relationships.

Karki also remembered her years as a student in India and said that most of her relatives and friends still reside there.
