Sunil Gavaskar Urges ICC To Act On Pakistan's Conduct In Asia Cup

Gavaskar Slams Pakistan's Attitude

Sunil Gavaskar, former Indian cricketer, was displeased with the attitude of Pakistan during the Asia Cup. Gavaskar pointed out that the Pakistani team came late for their games and skipped regular press conferences.

Protests Filed by PCB

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) according to reports complained of Indian players not shaking hands and of match referee changes. Gavaskar said that such things do not belong to cricket rules. He further said that comparable issues have been found in other games so these protests are unnecessary.

ICC and ACC Response

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) supposedly turned a deaf ear to these grievances. Gavaskar defended the ICC's position but added that it is obligatory for each team to have a representative in press conferences, which Pakistan did not do.

Specific Incidents Highlighted

  • Pakistan supposedly avoided having its captain, coach, or players attend media sessions.
  • The team was late for the game against the UAE, using a boycott slogan as excuse.
  • PCB said the match referee had apologized to them, but the ICC intervened to state that no apology had been offered.

Gavaskar's Call for Action

Gavaskar asserted Pakistan's actions are contrary to set rules and duties. Gavaskar asked the ICC to take action against the team for repeated offenses.
