Russia Falls for Trump's Nobel Peace Prize Citation
The US President, Donald Trump, has openly shown keen interest in the wining the Nobel Peace Prize. He asserts that the work done by him has minimized global conflicts. Soon after nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize had been made, Russia openly endorsed Trump's nomination.
This was according to Russian Presidential Spokesman Yuri Ushakov. Trump had also asserted previously that he can resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict within one day if re-elected. Although this has not come to pass, Russian authorities have often praised his peacelines. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had also stated that he will consider putting up Trump for nomination if the ceasefire is made into reality.
Reaction by Trump to Nobel Committee and Lobbying Campaigns
Trump has also been discussing the Nobel Committee and how they make their selections. His people have redoubled their campaigns to attempt to get him nominated. As such, Norwegian Nobel Committee Secretary Christian Berg Harpviken corrected them by explaining that the general public's campaigns do not affect their procedures.
He added that all the candidates are reviewed on merit only and the five members of the committee—selected by the Norwegian Parliament—are independent. The committee also monitors the manner the candidates are presented by the media but also ensures that the external influence does not influence the ultimate choice.
External Support for Trump's Campaign Various world leaders have emerged to express solidarity with the Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Trump. The general, Asim Munir on behalf of the Pakistan Army is said to have nominated from the country. On one's latest trip to the White House, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, presented Trump with an Israel-focused Nobel nomination form.
President son Eric Trump dared the crowd to make online posts supporting the nomination of his father. The White House also shared an image captioning the title "President of Peace" over Trump, the day after the first phase of an accord between Hamas and Israel to put an end to the two-year Gaza conflict.
Awaiting the Nobel Peace Prize Announcement The Nobel Peace Committee will later announce this year's winner. If the work and nominations of Donald Trump will receive an award, only time will tell.
