It was made public by the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Friday that the Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2025 had been won by Venezuela's Maria Corina Machado. The prize was given to her for her struggle for democratic freedoms in her nation. The committee, though receiving many nominations including one by the former States President Donald Trump, chose Machado as the winner out of 338 nominations.

Purpose for the Award

It was the Nobel Committee's words that gave the prize to Machado for her continued campaign on the Venezuelan people's rights.
