DK Shivakumar Replies to Media Reports
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar replied on Saturday to ongoing rumors that Karnataka could experience a change at the top by this year. According to him, he is not in haste and well knows what he plans to do. Shivakumar also showed dismay at certain media outlets giving out facts inaccurately.
Background of the Speculation
Speculations regarding a shift in the Chief Minister's seat have been doing the rounds since the Congress government is in power. The speculation has been that the seat of the Chief Minister would shift after two and a half years of tenure of the government.
Shivakumar's Earlier Remarks
This is not the first time that DK Shivakumar has responded to such allegations. In his previous remarks, he said time would tell what transpires. His comments were interpreted by many as an indication of his future desire to be Chief Minister.
Possible Cabinet Reshuffle in November
Sources indicate that up to 50 percent of the two-and-a-half-year-old ministers could be replaced. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is said to be set to conduct this cabinet reshuffle in November.
Fresh Speculation of CM Switch
As a result of this anticipated reshuffle, talk of a switch at the Chief Minister's post has once again emerged in Karnataka's political sphere.
