MacKenzie Scott Sells Part of Her Amazon Stake
MacKenzie Scott, an American writer and the former wife of Jeff Bezos, sold most of her Amazon shares. Bloomberg reports that Scott slashed her holding in Amazon by 42 percent.
September 30 company information indicates that she presently holds 81.1 million Amazon shares, down from 139 million shares previously. As much as there have been calls for comments, Amazon has not made any official comment regarding the sale.
Background of Jeff Bezos and MacKenzie Scott
Jeff Bezos and MacKenzie Scott divorced in 2019 after being married for 25 years. They have four children together. Under the terms of the divorce, MacKenzie took away $38 billion of Amazon stock. She subsequently gave away approximately half of this money to charitable organizations.
This year, Jeff Bezos wedded Lauren Sanchez, a retired journalist. Sanchez is now involved in several charitable and philanthropic pursuits.
