
Trump Says He Had a Conversation with PM Modi
US President Donald Trump announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured him that India would cease to buy oil from Russia. The action, Trump added, is a significant step in the direction of sanctioning Russia because it continues to fight a war with Ukraine.
Addressing White House reporters, Trump claimed that he grumbled to the Prime Minister Modi on India's ongoing import of Russian oil. He also asserted that the United States is widely thought to be funding from sale proceeds Russian military aggression in Ukraine.
Trump said that he is not happy about India purchasing oil from Moscow. Trump clarified that Modi had promised him that India will stop doing this in the future. Trump described this as major progress toward attaining Russia's economic global links cuts.
Role of China and India–US Alliance
Trump also mentioned that China would slow down or cut Russian oil imports. Even though policy disputes still remain between the two nations regarding energy, Trump even referred to India as America's good friend. Trump also mentioned Prime Minister Modi as his friend and emphasized the excellent relationship that they have.
Indian officials have, however, not yet signed off on Trump's statement that India will no longer buy oil from Russia.
