Father of the Victim's Apology
The assault on one Odisha medic student in West Bengal has brought outrage en masse. The recent remarks of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the assault raised more furor. Previously, the father of the victim had apologized for his previous denunciation of the Chief Minister. He stated that they consider Mamata Banerjee their mother and implored her to forgive them. He also asked her to support them in obtaining justice for his daughter.
Earlier Remarks and Clarification
Mamata Banerjee questioned why the victim was out at 12:30 a.m. The victim's father scoffed at this remark two days ago, indicating that he came to know of the crime at 10:15 p.m. In his recent remarks, however, he explained that his previous remarks could be misinterpreted. He again referred to Mamata Banerjee as his mother figure and demanded justice.
Call for Justice and Strong Action
The father explained that the life of his daughter was ruined due to the crime. He asked the government to give severe punishment to the accused and refrain from such activities in the future. He insisted that no other woman should undergo the same process as his daughter.
The 23-year-old Odisha's Baleshwar district MBBS student was in her second year in a private medical school in Durgapur. She had gone out of home with her friend one day, and according to the police records, it is gathered that they were chased by a group of men. The attackers drove away the friend and took the student to a nearby forest where she was gang-raped.
Six people, including the victim's friend, have been arrested by police in connection with the case.
