India's Passenger Vehicle Exports Grow 18.4% In April–September FY2025

Overall Export Performance

India shipped 4,45,884 passenger vehicles, consisting of cars, SUVs, and vans, in April–September FY2025, based on statistics from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

This is an 18.4% increase from 3,76,679 units shipped in the corresponding period of FY2024–25.

  • Car exports rose 12% to 2,29,281 units from 2,05,091 units.
  • Consumer vehicle exports increased 26% to 2,11,373 units.
  • Van exports had the largest increase, going up 36.5% to 5,230 units.

Maruti Tops Passenger Vehicle Exports

Maruti Suzuki India continued to be the largest exporter, exporting 2,05,763 vehicles in the first half of FY2025.
This is a 40% growth over 1,47,063 units exported in the same period a year ago.

Other major exporters also saw growth:

  • Hyundai Motor India: higher by 17%, to 99,540 units from 84,900 units.
  • Nissan Motor India: higher from 33,059 units to 37,605 units.
  • Volkswagen India: 28,011 units.
  • Toyota Kirloskar Motor: 18,880 units.
  • Kia India: 13,666 units.
  • Honda Cars India: 13,243 units.

Exports Increase Despite Fall in US Shipments

Exports to the US fell in September owing to increased tariffs.

Shipments, however, increased to 24 nations, primarily in West Asia and Latin America.

The nations recording increased imports from India are:

Korea, UAE, Germany, Togo, Egypt, Vietnam, Iraq, Mexico, Russia, Kenya, Nigeria, Canada, Poland, Sri Lanka, Oman, Thailand, Bangladesh, Brazil, Belgium, Italy, and Tanzania.
