Worsening Relations between India and Bangladesh
Diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh have become more strained since Muhammad Yunus became the interim ruler of Bangladesh. Yunus recently issued statements that are considered hostile towards India. When he met with the Pakistan Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairperson, General Shamshad Mirza, he exhibited a map that portrayed areas in India as Bangladeshi territories. The map presented India's northeastern border as part of Bangladesh, which became a serious diplomatic concern.
Pakistan-Bangladesh Relations Facilitate Under Yunus
Since taking over, Pakistan and Bangladesh have shown greater cooperation. General Shamshad Mirza's latest visit to Dhaka confirmed this strengthened bond. In the meeting, Yunus presented a book titled Art of Triumph to Mirza. The book cover featured a tilted map of Bangladesh, which included India's seven north-eastern provinces.
Public and Diplomatic Response
Release of the map had evoked widespread criticism. The majority of the citizens and internet users condemned Yunus's move, viewing it as an attack on India's sovereignty. The Indian populace expressed sharp disapproval of the representation, emphasizing respect for established international borders.
