Rohit Sharma Becomes World No.1 ODI Batsman As Gill Drops To Third

Rohit Sharma's Solid Comeback to ODIs

Rohit Sharma had a solid return to international cricket after seven months. In the three-match ODI series with Australia, he hit a century and a half-century. His consistent run-scoring helped India win crucial games and bagged him the Player of the Series award.

This performance elevated his ICC ODI ranking to the number one position. Rohit tops the ODI batting rankings with 781 rating points.

Updates in the ICC ODI Batting Rankings

Top player Shubman Gill slipped two positions and now ranks third with 745 points. Afghanistan's Ibrahim Zadran moved up to second with 764 points. Next in line are Babar Azam (739 points) and Virat Kohli (725 points).

Although Kohli has made a half-century in the last ODI against Australia, his low scores before that led to a one-place decline. Cricket analysts think that his two ducks in the first two games of the series impacted his ranking. Shreyas Iyer (700 points) still holds a place in the top 10, while England skipper Harry Brook (589 points) improved by 23 spots to reach position 25.

India's Representation in Bowling Rankings

In the bowling list, Kuldeep Yadav (634 points) is the sole Indian among the top 10. He lost one position and is now seventh, as Australian bowler Josh Hazlewood (628 points) gained two positions and now stands at eighth. Afghanistan's Rashid Khan (710 points) retains the top spot among bowlers.

All-Rounder Rankings

In the all-rounders' list, there is only one Indian player, Ravindra Jadeja (215 points). He continues to remain consistent in the list even though he didn't play against Australia. Axar Patel (208 points) gained two positions and reached 12th position. Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai (334 points) continues to be the highest-ranked ODI all-rounder.
