Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that India has emerged as a consistent beacon for the globe. The nation has stood firm in the face of global setbacks including disruptions in trade and evolving supply chains, he said. Addressing the Maritime Leaders Conclave at India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, he observed that India is now a symbol of strategic autonomy, peace, and prosperity.
India's Strengths from an International Perspective
Modi highlighted that India's democracy and reputation position the country ahead of other nations. During uncertain times for the world, he stated, the world turns towards India as a trusted and stable ally. The Prime Minister further stated that maritime trade is a significant component of India's vision for trade in the larger context.
Increasing Trade and Maritime Expansion
He said that the forthcoming India–West Asia–Europe Economic Corridor might redefine future trade patterns. As per him, India's maritime industry is expanding very quickly, and Indian ports are now counted among the most efficient globally.
Modernization and Future Readiness
Modi stated that there are new maritime laws where the old ones have been substituted with updated ones created for the future. He also added that the capacity of major Indian ports has doubled in recent times. The industries of cruise tourism, inland waterways, and cargo handling are experiencing steady growth, adding to India's growing maritime economy.
