Nitish Kumar will continue as the Chief Minister of Bihar. BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal said on Monday that the NDA partners only need to give an official confirmation. Nitish has already submitted his resignation to the Governor.
Upcoming Legislature Meetings
Jaiswal said that the BJP legislature party will meet at the state office Tuesday morning, following which the NDA legislature party will meet to complete the formality of electing Nitish Kumar. An oath-taking ceremony at the Gandhi Maidan is in preparation, with Prime Minister Modi and several Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states expected to attend.
Nitish Kumar's Political Background
In 1985, despite a strong Congress victory, Nitish Kumar entered the Bihar Assembly by winning from Harnaut as a Lok Dal candidate. Five years later, he was elected as a Member of Parliament. In 1994, during the reservation movement in Bihar, he created the Samata Party with George Fernandes. He served his first term as Chief Minister for one week in March 2000. Later, he formed the Janata Dal (United) and formed a government with allied parties. He has taken oath as Chief Minister nine times.
Possible Swearing-In Date
According to sources, the new government may take oath on the 19th or 20th of this month.
