India's Growing Role in Digital Transactions

The Union Minister of State for Communications, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, informed that India accounted for 46% of the world's digital transactions. He updated this during the World Telecommunication Development Conference, Baku, Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the International Telecommunication Union forum.

Today, India boasts with some of the cheapest data prices globally, while its consumption has reached 28 GBs per user a month. This large usage underpins big digital activity and spreads economic inclusion.

Achievements of India in Telecom and Connectivity: The country is pursuing the largest rural broadband project in the world. So far, Gigabit Fiber connectivity has reached 2.18 lakh villages. The government has targeted ensuring that 30% of mobile towers use renewable energy by 2030. The government blocked 3 crore fraudulent telecom connections, besides stopping 66 lakh financial fraud attempts in an effort to reduce digital fraud.
