AI May Remove Poverty And Make Jobs Optional, Says Elon Musk

Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, shared his essential thoughts regarding AI in the US-Saudi Investment Forum in Washington. He said one day, AI will make jobs optional. He also said money would lose much more meaning. As per him, poverty will be wiped out because of the rise of AI and humanoid robots. Another major CEO, Nvidia's Jensen Huang, joined him in the event. Musk later posted a video of his remarks on X.

Musk also argued that people might not have to work at all over the coming years, though this shift might take a decade or probably twenty years. He said that much of the jobs would become optional. He likened such jobs in the future to sporting events or video games that people select to do because they enjoy it. According to Musk, some people grow their food at home, even though it's hard work, because they love doing that work. He says the same concept will apply to jobs in the future.

Musk said that AI would decrease the need for money. He further added that AI and robotics would lower the cost of basic goods and services. He said it would eliminate poverty. He described poverty as an engineering problem, not a social one. And he said AI will solve it. Musk further commented that NGOs tried to reduce poverty for many, many years, but AI and humanoid robots can achieve what NGOs could not. Those technologies, he said, would create wealth for all. Musk also said that Tesla would lead in humanoid robot production. He further added that other companies would also produce such robots. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also said AI would create major changes in jobs.
