The winner of the 74th Miss Universe, which was held in Thailand, was Fatima Bosch from Mexico. Her name is widely trending in the competition. There was a Facebook Live of a public spat between one Thai official and the winner, Fatima, that later required an apology. Fatima spoke powerfully during the spat, and then she impressed the judges in the final round, discussing the struggles women face today.
Incident During Competition
She missed a scheduled shoot at Miss Universe 2025. Navat, the Miss Universe Thailand National Director and Miss Universe Organization's Executive Director, asked her for an explanation of this absence. He said that she was careless. Fatima calmly said, “We respect you as you respect us. I represent my country. If there is an issue with my country’s organization, do not involve me.”
The conversation escalated. Navat replied, “Listen to me first, then argue.” The argument was livestreamed and quickly went viral on Facebook.
Reaction and Public Response
Fatima, along with other contestants, disapproved of the incident on stage. They all walked off in protest. Later, she spoke to the media saying, “Your director did not treat us with respect. We are empowered women. This platform allows our voices to be heard. When faced with oppression, we must respond firmly.”
Mexican President Claudia praised Fatima for standing up. Navat came under heavy criticism and issued a public apology. The Miss Universe Organization also issued a statement condemning the incident.

Together, we will make history.” Her response had wowed the judges enough that she won the Miss Universe crown. It was a moment of surprise and joy.
