AI Hardware Manufacturing In The US

OpenAI, the leading US artificial intelligence company, has announced a partnership with Foxconn, a Taiwanese electronics company. Both companies will jointly design and manufacture key hardware for AI data centres in the US.

Foxconn manufactures iPhones for Apple, while also making AI servers for Nvidia. The new deal calls for Foxconn to design and develop AI data center racks with OpenAI. The company made the announcement on Friday.

Foxconn will manufacture AI data center components like networking equipment, power systems, and cables from the factories in the US. OpenAI can buy them in advance from Foxconn according to their requirements.

OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman said key technologies in the AI era are emerging from the US. He added that the partnership would help strengthen US leadership in AI. Altman also said the objective was to make AI benefits available to all people.

OpenAI has set apart $1.4 trillion, about Rs 123 lakh crore, to create AI infrastructure. The firm also collaborated with US-based Broadcom to design and produce its AI chips.
