Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has reintroduced its iconic model, the Sierra. The Sierra was first launched in 1991 and was discontinued in 2003. After almost 20 years, Tata Motors has brought back the model with updated features to meet the modern needs of people. The company terms it as the "rebirth of a legend." The new Sierra starts at Rs. 11.49 lakh. Bookings will open on December 16, and customers can book at Tata dealerships or online. Deliveries are expected to begin from January 15, 2026.
The new Sierra will have petrol and diesel engine options. It comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel. The turbo petrol gets 6-speed manual and automatic options. This produces 160 PS of power and 255 Nm of torque. The naturally aspirated petrol car comes with 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCA. It delivers 106 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque. The diesel engine does support 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. It produces 118 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque with a manual, and 280 Nm with automatic. An electric Sierra is also planned. The SUV will be offered in six colors.
The Sierra comes fitted with features like a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. There's a Level-2 ADAS package and over 20 safety features on offer. Six airbags are standard, and seatbelts include pre-tensioners. Tata has tested the vehicle in a real-life crash against another Sierra. The company claims it achieves a safety rating above 5 stars. There is a Dolby Atmos sound system and inbuilt 5G connectivity to keep owners entertained.
The new Sierra will rival mid-size SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate.
