Apple Regains Global Lead

Apple will be back on top as the world's largest maker of smartphones for the first time in ten years. Analysts said strong demand for its iPhone 17 line is behind the surge and predicted the tech giant will leapfrog the No. 1 spot from Samsung this year.

Sales surge when conditions warrant it

It has said that Apple's sales would further increase due to the weaker dollar and easing of trade tensions. The iPhone 17 series launched in September witnessed a strong demand in the US, China, and India.

Customers upgrade to new models.

They attribute it to the strong interest by customers in the US and China in upgrading their old models of iPhones. The analysts predict double-digit annual sales gains in the US and China.

More Market Share

Meanwhile, in 2025, Counterpoint Research forecasted that iPhone sales would increase by 10% YoY, while Samsung would only reach a comparatively modest 4.6% growth. The global smartphone market may grow as high as 3.3% this year, which will put Apple at 19.4%, giving it the leading position for the first time since 2011.
