The incident happened very close to the White House. Police reports identified the suspect as an Afghan citizen, Rahmanullah Lakanwal. The Governor of West Virginia first reported that two National Guardsmen were killed during the shooting near the White House. In a later development, Director Kash Patel corrected the record to indicate that the guardsmen were not killed, but seriously injured.
