Trump's Peace Proposals For Russia And Ukraine

US President Donald Trump has been actively trying to promote peace in Ukraine. His previous emphasis was on using sanctions to pressure Russia to a ceasefire. Recently, it seems he shifted his approach. According to various reports, Trump has offered concessions that would gain something for Russia. Trump's latest proposals form part of a supplemental peace plan presented to various European countries. The plan includes restoration of energy supplies from Russia to Europe. It also calls for investment in the rare earth mineral sector of Russia and the release of frozen Russian assets. It also proposes utilizing frozen Russian sovereign fund assets held by American businesses and financial institutions for projects in Ukraine. Another component of the plan is a data center powered by the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. The plan also suggests American companies invest in strategic sectors of Russia, including rare earth mineral extraction and oil exploration.

Trump recently drafted a 28-point peace plan to end the war in Ukraine. Some NATO countries have expressed reservations. They say that most points in the plan favor Russia. They suggest amendments. Discussions about the plan continue and are mediated by the United States. Trump complained of Kyiv's slow response. He said he was disappointed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had not yet considered the proposal. Trump added that the people of Ukraine support the plan, but Zelenskyy has not accepted it.
