Mark Mitchell, an American pollster and political commentator, offered insights on H-1B Visa holders and their contribution to the tech industry in the U.S. According to him, an H-1B Visa employee represents several undocumented workers.
Mitchell pointed out that a large proportion of the employees at Silicon Valley are foreign. Some tech firms are said to hire a remarkably large number of Indian employees, with percentages ranging from 85 percent to 95 percent.
Mark Mitchell is the CEO of Rasmussen, a prominent polling organization based in the U.S. These statements were made at an event hosted by Steve Bannon, who previously advised President Donald Trump. Mitchell also spoke on immigration policy under the Trump administration with regards to H-1B Visa holders.
According to him, these tech firms employ low-waged employees who are either contracted via visa services. According to him, employees with an H-1B visa normally work at entry levels but greatly contribute towards generating money for these firms. According to him, they effectively replace American employees with cheaper foreign engineers.
The 2025 Industry Index confirms the large foreign presence at Silicon Valley in relation to tech sector employment. About 66 percent of these are not U.S. citizens. Also, 23 percent among these are Indians and 18 percent are Chinese. Mitchell’s findings were consistent with these observations.
