If Footwork Improves, Gill Can Score Runs: Sanjay Bangar

Team India's T20 vice-captain Shubman Gill is struggling with his current performance. He has played 15 matches, scoring 291 runs with a strike rate of 137.3. In limited-overs cricket, he is struggling to score half centuries for the last 21 matches. Ex-Team India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has given his views on the performance of the player.

"Earlier, he was good in his foot movement," said Bangar. "In his last 28 matches, apart from those he hit to score boundaries, his foot movements have been poor, particularly to balls he receives right along. His strike rate, too, has slowed,"

"His strike rate with balls outside his off stump is decent," added Bangar. "He knows that he needs to do better with his batting, as he has got a couple of starts but needs to work on his game," he added, also pointing out that Gill got out to a very good delivery to a ball, one which would have gotten any batsman out." If he works on his foot movement, he can definitely increase his scoring," he added.

Bangar further complimented opener Abhishek Sharma for his aggression with the bat. “His attitude is what matters. He has the ability to hit the ball to covers, and that is a quality unique to some players,” said Bangar.

He also talked about the all-rounder Hardik Pandya. “Pandya’s multi-faceted talents are just what the Indian cricket team is looking for,” he said.

Team India is set to meet South Africa in the fifth and final match of the T20 series that is going to take place in Ahmedabad. The fourth T20 match that was supposed to take place in Lucknow got canceled because of fog. There was no ball bowled. Team India is leading the series by 2-1. Team India wants to win the fifth match of the series, while South Africa wants to level the series.
