Foxconn Creates 30,000 Jobs For IPhone Manufacturing In Karnataka

Apple has also stepped up its efforts to diversify its supply chain from China. As part of the plan, the company has also begun hiring workers at the unit of the manufacturer, Foxconn, in Karnataka. According to Economic Times, 30,000 employees have been hired at the plant in 8-9 months, and the vast majority are women.

Foxconn’s Karnataka Unit

  • Foxconn has opened the second-largest iPhone-manufacturing facility in Devanahalli, which is close to Bengaluru. The facility occupies an area of 300 acres. There has been a substantial increase in the hiring of workers in the recent few months. Presently, the facility is composed of 80% female workers, with many of them being freshers.
  • The company has initially manufactured the iPhone 16 models. It has recently started the production of the iPhone 17 Pro Max models. Around 80% of the iPhones manufactured in this company are usually shipped out to other countries.

Plans to Expand Workforce

Foxconn intends to expand the labor force in the Karnataka facility to 50,000 by next year. The firm has provided amenities for housing, healthcare, and education. This is done to accommodate the employees. The facility is modeled along the lines of a mini–township.

Foxconn in Tamil Nadu

The first iPhone manufacturing factory opened by Foxconn in India is in Tamil Nadu. Today, it has a total of 41,000 employees, most of whom are women. Foxconn has reported wanting to empower women and turn them into leaders in design and technology. This applies to recruitment in both Indian factories.
