The new development was announced by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in a press release on Tuesday. According to the press release, this new policy will come into effect on 27th February next year. The new policy will be applied during the H-1B cap subject to the 2027 fiscal year.

The Department explained that it was abusing the current lottery policy in that some companies were misusing the system. It was normally associated with favoring companies that pay lower wages to employees.
