Tata Nexon.ev Crosses 100,000 Sales Milestone

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has achieved another landmark in electric mobility. Nexon.ev has marked another achievement in that it has become the first electric car from Tata to reach 100,000 sales. Overall, Tata Motors has sold 250,000 electric vehicles to date and has retained its leading market in electric vehicles in India. Tata Motors has a 66 percent market share in electric car sales in the country.

Tata's Current Electric Vehicle Lineup

Currently, the company has the Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev, as well as the Harrier.ev. There is also the XPRES-T EV catering to the fleet market. Of these models, it is the Nexon.ev which is the highest-selling. Four out of ten Tata vehicles sold are Nexon.ev variants.

Future Plans and Investments

  • Tata Motors has lined up five new electric models for the next five years. The company will invest ₹16,000-18,000 crore by 2029-30 for development and development of infrastructure, such as erecting 1 million charging stations in the country.
  • Shailesh Chandra, MD, and CEO, Tata Motors, has confirmed the upcoming releases of the Sierra.ev and Punch.ev in the next year, followed by the Avinya model, which is expected in 2030. Also, the firm looks forward to providing electric vehicles for every class of people, targeting a market share of 45-50 percent in the Indian market.
