The Central Ministry of Civil Aviation has approved the establishment of four more airlines that will offer scheduled flights. This comes at a time when there have been some disruptions of flights services by the airline company that has the highest number of air passengers in the country. This airline is IndiGo.
The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has confirmed that NOCs have been given for the operation of Shankh Air in Uttar Pradesh, TruJet in Telugu states, and very recently for operation of Al Hind Air and Fly Express in Kerala.
Expansion of the Aviation Industry in India
- As per the minister, "The aviation market in India has grown with rapid expansion and has become one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the world." The minister added that the Indian government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is promoting the entry of new carriers in the market.
- Smaller airlines such as Star Air, India One Air, and Fly 91 are enabling connectivity in this region through UDAN services. According to the minister, there is much left yet in growth in the aviation sector.
TruJet Advised to Operate from Bhogapuram
- TruJet has been asked to begin its operations with the new airport being set up in Bhogapuram near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The airline was previously operating from Hyderabad. The airline has stopped its operations. Now the airline will resume its operation in Visakhapatnam.
- Shankh Air will most likely carry out its flight operations in the Northern part of India. Fly Express and Al Hind Air will target South India. It is expected that all the four carriers will begin their services within the first half of 2026.
Updates about International Flight Services
The Air India airline will soon begin operations on the Rome route in Italy in a bid to improve connectivity with Europe. Air India will soon fly four times a week. Flights begin on March 25.
IndiGo Flights from Delhi to London:
The airline, IndiGo, intends to provide direct flights beginning from February 2, 2026, from London (Heathrow) to Delhi. Israir Flights to India: Israir Airlines of Israel has launched direct flights from Tel Aviv to Delhi and Mumbai. Shortly after the authorities’ approval has been confirmed, flights will start in April 2026.
