Karnataka Bus Accident: 42 Students Escape Unharmed

A major road accident in Karnataka has caused sorrow for many families. Police have confirmed that over 40 school-going children have escaped with their lives.

Tour Bus Involved

  • A tour bus with 42 students was traveling from T. Darshahalli to Dandeli side by side with a private tourist bus when the incident happened. A lorry collided with the private tourist bus, resulting in a chain reaction. The school bus lost control as a result of the accident and struck the private tourist bus from behind before swerving off the road.
  • IGP Ravikanthe Gowda has said that the students’ bus is not damaged. He has also confirmed that a statement has been taken from the driver of the students’ bus.

Travel Bus Driver's Story

In the private bus, nine people lost their lives. The driver, co-driver, and most passengers escaped by jumping out of the bus. The bus driver reported that the lorry swerved into their road unexpectedly. The driver attempted to handle the bus, but the impact had already taken place. The private bus collided with another vehicle that the driver could not describe clearly. Excessive speed was another factor that led to the accident, according to the driver.

Accident Information

According to reports, this incident took place on Thursday at about 2:30 am at Gorlattu Cross on NH-48 at Chitradurga district. A container truck collided with a private travel bus Seabird traveling from Bengaluru to Gokarna. The diesel tank of the Seabird caught fire after the collision.
