Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared 2025 a memorable year for the nation. While addressing the nation in the last Mann Ki Baat program of the year on Sunday, he pointed out the achievements of the nation in various domains like security, sports, science, or technological aspects.
National Pride and Cultural Unity
The Prime Minister stated that the operation, Sindoor, became a moment of national pride for the country. He stated that the operation saw the people of the country show their unity with the country in support of the operation. He also pointed out the celebrations of the song "Vande Mataram" for 150 years, indicating the spirit of unity again.
Strong Performance in Sports
As stated by the Prime Minister, the year 2025 was significant for sports in India. The Indian men's cricket team won the ICC Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup. The women's cricket team won the World Cup for the first time. The women's blind cricket team won the T20 World Cup. Many international championships won by para-athletes of the country include those at the World Championship.
Progress in Science and Space
The Prime Minister said that India has seen great strides in science, technology, and space. He mentioned that Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to visit the International Space Station. He said that international focus has shifted towards India, which is largely because of the power and potential of the youth of the country. He said that a Youth Leaders' Conference will be organized on January 12, on the eve of National Youth Day.
Growing National Confidence
The Prime Minister mentioned:"There was also the successful holding of the Prayagraj Mahakumbh Mela, which attracted worldwide attention earlier this year. The experiences gained in 2025 have given us greater confidence and prepared us to take a new leap into 2026 with renewed hopes and resolutions."His comments were met with applause from the audience.
Advisory Regarding Use of Antibiotics
Prime Minister Modi has expressed concern over a recent finding by the Indian Council of Medical Research. The finding showed that antibiotics are losing effectiveness as a treatment for diseases such as pneumonia and urinary tract infections. The Prime Minister has pointed out that the key factor contributing to the misuse of antibiotics is the practice of using them without consultation with health personnel.
Narasapuram Lace Art Recognition
The Prime Minister appreciated the traditional lace items of Narasapuram in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The Prime Minister said that this craft sustained more than one lakh women in 250 villages. He said that this craft has been sustained by women for generations. The Prime Minister said that the Andhra Pradesh State Government and NABARD are providing training to artisans for preparing new designs and reaching more markets. The Narasapuram lace items have been given Geographical Indication, and more than 500 items are being produced now. The Prime Minister said that the Mann Ki Baat program brings all these efforts to the limelight and helps in economically empowering women.
