The government of Kuwait has introduced new online services for visa and residence-related matters for alien workers. According to the Ministry of the Interior, their goal is to provide faster and more effective support for alien workers.
Available Online Services
- Foreign employees no longer need to visit government offices when requiring services like visa extension or changing residence for work. All these services can be accessed from the website of the Ministry of Interior.
- The officials from the General Department of Information Systems said that these services have been developed in collaboration with the General Department of Residency. They further stated that the Kuwaiti Immigration System is reviewing the introduced reforms.
Benefits for Foreign Workers
- These changes will benefit foreign workers in both the public and private sectors. As it was, the process required the employee to visit government offices several times before getting approval for the change of residency.
- It was further stated that medical insurance is compulsory for all foreigners and visitors following the new rules.
