US President Donald Trump has referred to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “wartime prime minister”. Trump asserted that Netanyahu had successfully led Israel during a challenging time, thereby guiding the country out of danger. He further claimed that Israel might have been at risk of extinction had there not been such leadership.
Netanyahu was quick to receive the comments in a positive light. He expressed that Israel could not have a better friend than Trump. The two leaders have met recently at one of the resorts in Florida, United States where they held the meeting aiming at the next phase of the Gaza peace plan.
Ceasefire in Gaza Discussion
- Trump emphasized during the meeting that Hamas has to disarm before the second step in the ceasefire plan for Gaza. Trump also signaled his desire to have a government of specialists in Gaza in January.
- Trump could not hide his frustration over peacemaking in Gaza not getting due recognition. He also brought up Iran as a concern. He expressed that Iran might be carrying on its nuclear and missile programs in other places. Trump cautioned that if such actions were taken there would be very serious repercussions.
Peace Prize for Trump Announcement by Israel
When the meeting was over, Trump and Netanyahu came to the press together for the announcement. Netanyahu remarked that Trump had taken many unanticipated decisions while he was in office. He divulged that the peace prize from the state of Israel would be awarded to Trump. He pointed out that for the first time in 80 years, the prize would go to a non-Israeli national.

Trump once more brought up the matter of his assertion that he had prevented a war between India and Pakistan. He said that he did not get any credit for this activity.
