Steve Bannon, the previous advisor to President Donald Trump, has put forward that immigration to the United States should be halted for a decade. He pointed out that there is a large amount of corruptions in the immigration system. Bannon gave a poor critique of refugee, amnesty, and asylum programs saying they have ceased to be effective and that they are mismanaged. He aired these comments on his program, War Room.
H-1B Visa Program Concerns
Besides that, Bannon mentioned the H-1B visa program. He accused corporations of replacing American workers with cheap foreign labor.
Changes in Immigration Policies of US
The Trump administration has declared strict regulations for immigrants. The time of work permits for refugees and immigrants has been cut down. H-1B visa applicants are subjected to a long waiting period for appointments, with some of them being postponed until October next year. The US authorities have also raised the H-1B visa fee to $100,000.
Bannon's remarks are made in the context of these policies which are already in place, strengthening the need for him to call for reforms in immigration, refugee, and visa programs.
