New Lottery System
The new system for H-1B visas is going to change. H-1B visas will not be given out randomly anymore. People who get paid more and have good skills will have a better chance of getting an H-1B visa. This means that H-1B visas will be given to people, with salaries and advanced skills first. On the hand people who have jobs that do not pay very much or are just starting out will have a harder time getting an H-1B visa. The H-1B visa system is going to prioritize people with salaries and advanced skills.
The United States Department of Labor made a system for H-1B employees. This system has four levels of wages for H-1B employees. The H-1B employees will be paid based on these four levels. The four levels are, for H-1B employees.
- Level 1: Entry-level employees
- Level 2: Intermediate-level employees
- Level 3: Skilled employees
- Level 4: Highly skilled employees with the highest salaries
Entry-level employees, which are the ones at Level 1 will still get to be part of a lottery. The employees who are in the wage levels like Level 2 and so on will get more than one chance to be picked in the lottery. This means they have a chance of being selected because they have multiple lottery entries, for the same thing, the lottery.
- Level 4: Four entries, about 61% chance of selection
- Level 3: Three entries, about 46% chance
- Level 2: Two entries, about 31% chance
- Level 1: One entry, reducing chances by approximately 15% compared to the previous system
Impact on Indian Applicants
People from India who want to go to the United States are having a time. The US has strict rules and this is causing problems for Indian applicants.
