Trump Issues Warning To Venezuela's Interim President

The US President Donald Trump has issued a warning to the interim president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, that there will be serious repercussions for not complying with US orders. This was mentioned by him in the course of his interview with a media magazine.

Delcy Rodriguez Takes Over Interim President Position

Delcy Rodriguez, the previous vice president of Venezuela, got the position of interim president after the US unilaterally removed Nicolas Maduro from power. Following her appointment on Saturday, Trump said that Delcy was prepared to collaborate with the US.

However, after her inauguration, Delcy condemned the USA actions. She declared that detaining Maduro was wrongful and demanded his immediate release.

Trump’s Reaction

Trump was not happy with Delcy's remarks and made it clear. He warned that she might meet a grimmer fate than that of Maduro if, she defied and did not comply with US expectations. Trump said that he was very sure that the only possible way, for Venezuela to be rebuilt, was if Delcy accepted US influence and cooperation. He also hinted at the possible deployment of US troops in the country, should the need arise.

Delcy Calls For Cooperation

Delcy Rodriguez made a counter-response to the remarks of Trump by extending an invitation to the US to cooperate with the Venezuelan government. She made it clear that her country is all for peace and international cooperation. It is her view that Venezuela wants to have respectful and balanced relations with the United States and other nations. She made an appeal to the US to support Venezuela in her endeavors for the country’s advancement.
