Again the ex-president of the United States Donald Trump has talked about Greenland and its area. The president of the USA Trump spoke to reporters on Sundays, while he was on Airforce One, and he said that the USA needs Greenland for defense purposes. According to him, the activities of Russian and Chinese ships are taking place in the area. Phoenix and the issue will be brought up again in the coming weeks.Trump’s re-election as President brought the topic up frequently in his speeches. Greenland is now under the sovereignty of Denmark and is a semi-autonomous territory.
Greenland Promises the US Comments
- The Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens Frederik Nielsen, dismissed Donald Trump’s statements. He requested the US not to repeat such issues again and again. Besides, he made it clear that the proposal for incorporation is out of the question.
- Nielsen went on to say that Greenland is willing to communicate but only through official diplomatic pathways. He emphasized the need for the discussions to be underpinned by international law and national sovereignty.
Trump: “The Incident at Putin’s Mansion was not Assault”
- Trump spoke about the news concerning the attempted attack near Russian President Vladimir Putin’s house. He showed concern regarding the incident last week but Sunday he stated that the Ukrainian army was not directing the fire on Putin's residence.
- He remarked that something did take place close to the residence but he doesn’t consider it a direct attack. US officials have said that there is no proof that Ukrainian drones were targeting that spot. Trump also stated that he doesn’t think the attack mentioned in the news occurred.
