President Donald Trump has stated that the upcoming revenue for the United States would be around $600 billion (almost ₹54 lakh crore). This claim was made in a post where he defended the tariffs on various countries. According to Trump, these tariff measures have made the United States stronger economically and have also been an advantage in terms of national security. He further pointed out that some media outlets are not covered this news.
Trump Tariffs Overview
President Trump, during his term, has put tariffs over various countries from time to time; and the list included even the U.S. allies and enemies. Among such countries, India was slapped with a 50 percent tariff apparently to shift the focus of the latter on its crude oil imports from Russia. These tariffs were enforced while the U.S. and India were still negotiating trade terms.
Supreme Court Review
At the moment, the U.S. Supreme Court is reviewing a case on the President’s power to impose tariffs on foreign countries. The Court will not only hear the arguments but also decide the validity of these tariffs. The White House has claimed that it is ready for whatever the outcome is. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told, “The White House has a Plan B all set. It would be a lack of judgment not to have a plan for every eventuality. We are optimistic that the Supreme Court ruling will be in our favor.”
