Trump Shares Post Claiming Role As Interim President Of Venezuela

The US president Donald Trump posted a message on Truth Social which caught the attention of many people online. The post that he made, claimed he was the interim president of Venezuela. The post included a manipulated picture which looked like a Wikipedia page but was actually a screenshot. According to the post, Trump had played the part of interim president ever since January this year. The post quickly went around the social media platforms.

Background to the Claim

The post was very timely as it coincided with the news of the US involvement with Venezuela. The report says that the US gave the reason of drug trafficking within the country to conduct their operations. They even went as far as to say that US troops had entered Caracas, the capital city, and had taken President Maduro and his wife into custody. They were then believed to be taken to the US.

The claim was that after Maduro and Flores had been captured, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez was the one who took the helm as the interim leader. The defense minister of Venezuela revealed she would conduct the leadership for three months.

Political Uncertainty in Venezuela

The whole situation was in a mess and no one was clear which political figure was in charge in Venezuela at that moment. Some were guessing that Machado, the opposition leader and the Nobel laureate, could get that role. But, according to reports, Trump wasn't very sure about this option. He said that Machado was not a very popular public figure.
