Google Introduces Direct Shopping Within Search

Google has introduced a novel shopping feature based on AI technology that enables users to make product purchases from Google Search directly. Thus, the update whereby going to different online retail websites for a transaction is no longer necessary, is in effect. Now, users can conduct all activities regarding the purchase process - researching, selecting, and payment- in one place.

How the New Shopping Feature Works

The new gadget allows the customers to shop while they are surfing in AI mode on Google Search or the Gemini app. The entire user journey from product selection to payment takes place in Google’s platform. This results in less hassle like re-entering your shipping information on a different site.

Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP)

Google has baptized this technology the Universal Commerce Protocol or UCP. To facilitate this feature, the search engine has formed alliances with leading e-commerce giants such as Shopify, Wayfair, Target, and Walmart. The payment processing partners are among others Visa and Mastercard.

Payments and Delivery Options

Google Pay is one among the payment methods that the users can opt for when they are buying. They can give the shipping information pre-stored in Google Wallet to send the parcel. Google is rumored to be bringing in other payment gateways most likely like PayPal soon.

Availability and Future Plans

The feature has been rolled out in the U.S. for now. However, Google has plans to take it worldwide gradually. sometime later, the perks like loyalty rewards and more consumer-centric shopping experience may be among the updates.
