Mohammad Kaif, a former cricket player of India, highlighted the issue of leaving Arshdeep Singh out for the first two One-Day Internationals against New Zealand. He also expressed his opinion on the loss of India in the second ODI.
Kaif Stresses the Need for Wicket-Taking Bowlers
- On his YouTube channel, Kaif raised a doubt about the team management’s decision concerning the selection of Prasidh Krishna over Arshdeep Singh. He pointed out that Arshdeep is a wicket-taking bowler while Prasidh has been giving up runs most of the time except for one or two good performances.
- Kaif argued that it is not fair to just point at the low score of around 280 runs as the cause of the loss. He pointed out that if India cannot keep the opposition from surpassing scores of 270-280, then they will face a tough time securing a place in the major tournaments like the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Need to Adapt to Match Conditions
Kaif further opined that the team should concentrate on winning matches no matter what the conditions, including dew. He suggested that the bowlers should be taught the art of bowling in a manner that is effective even under the difficult conditions created by dew.
Focus on Series-Deciding Third ODI
- The third and final ODI in the series will take place on Sunday at Indore. This encounter will determine the winner of the series. Depending on the pitch condition, the left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh may replace Prasidh Krishna in the playing eleven.
- The performance of the bowling attack will be the key factor in India's winning of the match and hence, the series. It is the fans' hope that the team will put out a better overall display and will be ending on a positive note in terms of the series.
