The Congressman US and the leader of the Republicans Rich McCormick were giving their views on the international relations of America. He hinted that the US should rather develop connections with India than Pakistan. According to Him, India, not Pakistan, is the one that is bringing investments to the US.
India’s Contribution to the US Economy
According to McCormick, India is the source of skilled professionals in thousands for the US. He also said that it was US companies that were increasing their investments in India. He even said that if the US were to move away from India, it would be like hurting their own economic interests.
Concerns Over India’s Oil Purchases
McCormick mentioned that President Trump does not like the fact that India is buying oil from Russia. The US has been calling on India to cut the amount of oil it imports from Moscow. McCormick stated that this is the reason why Trump has taken a tough position on India. At the same time, he also said that Modi is a leader who looks at the whole picture and is focused on national interests and therefore wants to buy the cheaper Russian oil.
