Sunil Gavaskar Praises Harshit Rana’s Batting Performance

India stumbled in the third One-Day International against New Zealand at Indore, losing by 41 runs. The series, which India had already lost 2–1, was accompanied by this defeat. There were, however, some excellent individual performances hidden under the shadow of the defeat.

Key Contributions in the Chase

  • Virat Kohli, the captain of the Indian team, scored a hundred, accumulating 124 runs, and thus leading the Indian batting. Harshit Rana was the second most impactful player with the bat; he scored 50 runs and partnered Kohli during a very crucial phase of the innings.
  • Sunil Gavaskar, a former Indian cricket star, commended Harshit Rana for his solid batting. According to him, rana played with self-assurance and did not show any sign of being anxious. Gavaskar stressed the remarkable quality of Rana to deal with the bouncy balls and said that he executed his shots with control and sharpness.

Rana’s Match Performance

  • Harshit Rana's contribution to the team is a total of 52 runs off 43 balls. His batting display comprised four boundaries and four sixes. The Indian hope of a miracle was oiled by the 99-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Virat Kohli. This partnership was built over just 69 balls. During this stand, Kohli scored 42 runs off 26 balls whereas Rana scored the rest.
  • While both were on the crease, India’s hope was alive. But Rana was out trying to promote the scoring. After his wicket fell, the run rate climbed. Very soon, Kohli was out too. Now the team was unable to chase down the target and not only lost the match but the series too.

Upcoming Series

In the near future, India and New Zealand will meet for a series of five T20 matches. The first game of the series will take place on Wednesday in Nagpur.
